I can get ether an prolink fx5600 256meg golden sample or an ati procolor 9800se 128meg which is better?

Nethier...both suck. Either get a 5900XT or a 9800 pro. The extra $30-50 will really be worth it.

True, but if you can get a 9800se that will flash to a pro... In any case, dont get the 5600, especially not a 256mb 5600. Its just a waste of 128mb ram.

Try buying a Powercolor 9800SE and gind out if you are lucky in softmoding : ) .

I running an porlink fx5600 now and use it over clocked 325/600 24/7 but I can get a another prolink or an 9800se thats soft moded for around 50 bucks both need repairs to the memmory chips which I'll replace which I can do with my rework station.

Wow, you gotta have some skill to replace BGA modules. You can actually do it?

Yes but It takes me about an hour per chip because the legs are so small and if you rush it the heat fries them.

I applaud your skill. I tried it once on a TI4200, and it didnt work. I'm pretty damn good with an iron too.

I use an special solder like alloy that you apply like solder called chip quick , you just bridge the legs of the chip and it pops right off then you use an solder sucker to remover the junk leaving you nice clean pads to lay your solder paste down with an applicator needle ,then you place the new or scavanged chip in place an genteraly touch each pin till their all soldered and always remember which way the little dot go's for pin 1 .

sorry wrong proses for that chip I'll wright back when I get the Right name I do it alot at work but I'm to tired to remember Right now, all I know is hot air and an vacuum pick up is used with an small centering press.
