Which is most efficient X99 board?

It's probably not one of the first things to consider when buying a highend X99 board, but I'm still curious which one out there is the most efficient and can save me money for the long run. Can anyone help?
 
I saw a chard with the power consumption of almost all X99 boards (don't find it anymore, but it was part of a showdown) and they were very very similar. I think asrock boards were the worst in terms of consumption, and the rest was neglegeably similar. If you are concerned about consumption, you will have more savings undervolting your CPU and GPU. Or even going for a more efficient platform (z97 is a lot more efficient powerconsumption/ performance wise). A 970/980 for GPU and you have a pretty low-power system.
 
Motherboards with less integrated hardware should typically be a little better than those with a ton of drive controllers, NICs, etc. That by itself doesn't make a motherboard efficient. Some have cheap and inefficient voltage hardware. Lower end ASRock motherboards would be a good example of that. Their BIOS auto rules, vDroop characteristics and everything factor into the whole equation.

Long story short, you won't see much difference between quality motherboards with similar feature sets. Compared to CPUs and GPUs the amount of power pulled by the motherboard is virtually insignificant anyway in terms of your electric bill.
 
This is problem which makes no sense without specifying what kind of reqs are for the 'high-end' X99 mobo. For example, I have Asus X99-E WS which is top of the heap and extremely inefficient in your parlance. BUT, this is due to the fact that it has two PLX chips which make possible driving its all seven PCIe 3.0 slots at x8 speed at the same time. Since I may have a need for it, this mobo is the most efficient for me. There is another mobo, ASRock X99 WS-E/10G which has exactly same specs plus two 10 Gigabit Ethernet connectors. For somebody who needs 20 Gb/s network speeds this mobo is most efficient gift from heaven. I do not need it since I am no planning to have 10 Gig Lan in my house and no hope for ISP providing me 10 Gig Internet link to the backbone.
 
The thing is, I'm looking at something around $200 or so, which means I'm looking at Gigabyte UD3 or UD4 or Asrock Extreme 3 or Extreme 4. I'll have a couple of graphics cards and 5 or 6 HDDs...
 
They're all within 10~20w of each other and only translates to a few dollars a month if ran 24/7. You're much better off picking a motherboard with the biggest community with the features you want.

Asus currently have the biggest x99 community from what I've seen and the most robust bios.

You run that and are concerned about energy efficiency?
Going to 2 HDD's instead of 6 will have a much bigger difference on power consumption.
X99 is not your best bet if you want energy efficiency like I said earlier.
 
True that, for performance board the best you can do is get a good efficient CPU and GPU and that will be the main drivers of power usage. AR Xtreme 4 looks pretty solid if you had to pick one

You really can't go wrong with any of the suggestions, especially if you have budget constraints.
