Which is faster?

Intel P3 1.1GHz, 100MHz FSB or Intel Celeron 1.2GHz, 100 FSB

The P3 is 219 dollars new....Celeron 115 dollars

If I overclock both processors which is a better bet?

Or should I just get a new mobo and pop in an AMD cpu?

P3 will be much faster, the cellery probably performs the same as a P3 700-900Mhz.

I found the P3 1.1 Ghz CPU for 80$ new on www.pricewatch.com and the celeron for 35$.

Where are you looking for CPUs?

www.powerleap.com includes a tualatin converter for my old P3V4X mobo

Note: the one I just looked at had 100MHz FSB not 133

If you are considering going with your second option of an AMD cpu and mobo, you may have to upgrade your powersupply and memory as well depending on which AMD processor and motherboard you go with. So, keep that in mind.

It would be A LOT cheaper just to get one of the processors from www.pricewatch.com and a new (and better) motherboard that doesn't require those expensive adapters.

$219 is a lot for a P3 1GHz. Unless you really want it for some reason, just buy something newer.

Exactly.

For 200$ you can get a Pentium 4 2.4 ghz and an 865chipset motherboard. That would be a MUCH better use of the money.

Also for that money you can get a mobile Athlon 2400, 2500 or 2600 and still get a 100$ mobo to overclock that thing to high holy hell.

Im really confused as to why and where you're looking at those CPUs/Prices.

As others have stated, you can get much better CPUs and/or those CPUs for a lot less.
