QX6850 or Q9450? I know the QX6850 has an unlocked multi... but in reality after all is said and done... which will yeild more performance?

I only ask because i think i'll be getting my hands on both in the next few days...
 
Wow the QX6850 should retail for alot more though than a Q9450. The QX6850 would cost a good $1000 for that CPU. The Q9450 becaue of its die shrink will run cooler though when it comes to overclocking. But, if you can get the QX6850 at a very good price then get it since the price is very expensive right now. The Q9450 should retail for like $350-$366. Between the two, I would get the Q9450. If both were the same price, I will get the Q6850 instead. It's default clock at 3.0ghz is pretty good. However, if your going to overclock then, a Q9450 should do very well.

QX6850 is free. :p

But the thing is, i know its a 65nm and will require a decent amount of cooling to reach a similar overclock to the Q9450 would on air... Im just curious to see which is faster once they are both maxxed out.

Unfortunately not, but the QX6850 is gonna be used in a test setup for a few weeks until i can use it... and the Q9450 will be available to me immediately. Nonetheless i will probably end up with both. :D
 
QX6850 will win if you can keep it cool. too low of a multiplyer on Q9450 for my taste.

I think I would want the QX6850 more, but in the end of the day, depends on what you can clock them to....
