hey guys i currently have a seagate 120gb sata hdd but im in need of more room, as well as a place to back up my files.
so im looking to get a hdd with these specs: 250gb, sata2, and 16mb cache, internal
so i see that there is:seagate, maxtor, and western digital making these drives, i think that the seagate has the ncq stuff. which drive would be best for me?
im probably going to buy oem from newegg or something, im trying to stay close to $100

This man's got it right. The WD 320s are the best $/GB right now, and cost only a little over $100 per drive. However, once you calculate in shipping, it's cheaper to buy from ZipZoomFly.
WD 320GB Sata 3Gb/s - $115
WD 250GB Sata 3Gb/s - $88

If you've GOT to have a Seagate (some people do, and I can't fault the extra 2 years on the warranty!) the 7200.10's fit your bill. 250GB, 16MB cache, $98 shipped.

ok so both of you guys have suggested wd, so i guess thats what im getting :)
and the 320gb sounds great! but will it be any slower than the 250 gb?

Nope, it's actually the same speed or a smidge faster. It's less GB/$ (which is why it's usually a second suggestion instead of a first), but it's bigger ;)
