hi, I am undecided on which to go with

my current system is an
P4 2.4C @ 3.2 ghz
1 gig of PC2700 Kingston Hyperx memory
WD 74 gig raptor HD
9800 PRo
Audigy 2 zs
Plextor 12X dvd burner
Asus P4P800 motherboard

so the question is, which is the better upgrade,
upgrading the memory to pc3200

memory. i wouldn't mess around with pc3700 memory because of the loose cas latency/timings.
 
From the looks of your overclock, you seem to be doing fine on the memory side of things. You should get the video card. :D

Note that going from PC2700 to PC3200 is only a 16% improvement...
 
If I were you, I'd get some PC4000 or faster, so you can run at 1:1. In my experience, CAS latency means very little on Intel platforms.
 
get the fastest memory you can afford ... since you have an Intel system ... don't worry about the latency ...
 
Well, I am leaning more toward the video card, since I think it will be the upgrade that will boost the performance of the games I play more than the ram upgrade dont you think
 
A new card will boost your gaming performance, you will be held back by your ram speed. You are limiting your system by using slower ram than is required by the 800mhz fsb P4s. If you are only using the system for gaming, a new card will be fine. If you are using the system for other tasks too, a 167mhz boost in ram speed will increase the speed of your system in every app.
 
I guess you could sell your gig of PC2700 for about $100 and use that for the PC4000...

Does your PC2700 overclock at all?
 
Yes, I use the system mostly for gaming, music, internet, and like all people word processing since I am a university student

the ram overclocks to 181mhz, DDr362 thats what memtest86+ says

the cpu is oc to 3.26 ghz

so I guess is video card, thanks for the replies :)
 
LOl, your thread at the power supply forum made me laugh alot

anyway, I have a good power supply already, is an Antec True blue 480 watts one ;)

I got my Corsair PC4000pro for only $299 at Outpost.com. Its very good ram, and has cool light thingys! With shipping it may be $5 over your budget, but you can sell your pc2700 for over $100 on Ebay or the FS/FT.

oh yeah, cant sell the ram, since my sister will want it for her system, since she uses a program from her work that requires alot of ram
 
Man, the shipping was the fastest ever. I ordered on Friday, and got DHL overnight (only like $6). The next morning I was woken by the sound of my doorbell. I recieved the ram at 11AM! Ram was packaged very well, and worked perfectly.
 
Thats the sticks I'm runnin, Real good stuff,my friggin cpu is holding me back :mad:
I've used Cousair for about 4 years, had a stick go bad in my other rig and called Newegg and they sent me a new one.
I've had great experiances with them.
