looking at my rig in my sig, what do you guys think the best res is to game with, and get the higher fps, but also look the best ? All game options maxxed. Mainly games like UT2004-ONS, DesertCombat, RavenShield

- 1600x1200res with 2xAA/4xAF

- 1280x1024res with 4xAA/8xAF

I say 1280x1024 for two reasons.

1) Your refresh rate is most likely higher at that res.
2) The 8xAF will certainly help and 4xaa removes all the jaggies that I see.

I don't see why you can't use 8x AF at 1600x1200. EVERY game I play is nothing less than 1600x1200 2xAA 8xAF @100Hz

Yeah ok buddy. Taking a glance at your rig you got there, of course you can play all your games at that res ;) .

I'd have to say 1280 x 1024 4xAA/8xAF for most games though. Although on second thought, I see you have a 21" monitor, so I'm assuming it's decent enough to run 1600x1280 at 85hz minimum. So really, go with whatever res nets you a higher refresh rate.

I have about the same setup as you and i have no problem run nearly all my games at 1600x1200 w/ 4xAA + 8xAF.

I have a 6800GT OC'd to 400/1100. I get around 40 fps in UT2004 with everything maxed to the limits and running 1600x1200 w/ 4xAA + 8xAF.

I would suggest trying different settings and lowering details you dont really notice to boost your performance. Or you can just drop your resolution to 1280x1024.

I run Morrowind at 1600x1200 w/ 8xS + 16xAF. 8xS really does a hell of a job at Anti Aliasing when you can run it and get smooth gameplay.
