Another interesting deal is the Koss SB40 w/ Beyer Velour? sp pads and the mic replaced with a real one if you are into DIY.
.
I actually soldered in a different mic into my sb40 and put on velour earpads from other headphones
bose? oh hell no.
tell me some more about what you need. there are several good earbuds and iems under $100.
well thank goodness you did. ok hold on a sec.
try these first and see how you like them. I have had a pair forever so they must be ok. I am murder on portables and these still look new lol. they are comfy too. oh and yes they are better than the bose.

The Head-Direct RE2 is generally considered the best in-ears under $100

In all the reviews and comparisons I've read, they're pretty far ahead of anything else in this price group.
k.. ordered the RE2's.thanks for the help guys.
they will probably blow ur head off from what I read. jealous. I need to get some when I can. the jvcs I have are good but...
What would be the best headset for gaming under $50??
Sorry, I read it after I posted. Is the mic good enough for just vent talking?
Will the Koss SB40 sound fine with my onboard sound or is there a cheap sound card that would work better?
Yeah sorry. If it was $150 sure but nope. For $150 you could do better. I could get a decent receiver and the Koss SB40 for that. For $250? No way they would match up to what I could put together.
Still, somebody will try it and report back.
My advice? Leave it alone until there is more feedback. I cannot imagine that it is worth the same $$ as a receiver and a pair of real headphones or speakers.
Really neat $100 monitors with a built in dac. They make just about anything sound good.

Those reviews aren't very good. FWIW there is a 40 watt version for 30 bucks more.
