Damn, you two are making me very jealous.
I went with the ZOTAC GTX 1080 AMP! Extreme and have been very, very impressed with build quality and overclocking. So far I've only taken the card to 2101 core / 5500 memory without a voltage bump just custom fan profile. Temps haven't risen above 65 degrees. This card is massive by the way. Length wise + may as well be considered triple slot cooler height -- be sure your case can support dimensions!
I would advise against gigabyte if silence is paramount..
re: giant cards and sagging.
I set my old PC case on it's side when I found that my CPU cooler worked like 10c better with an up down orientation for the heatpipes. I guess it was better for the wicking action / heat dissipation. Anyways, it had the added benefit of zero card sag so when I shopped new cases recently I got one that kept the mobo like that.
I own the card, and its loud as hell on the stock fan profile. Loosening it up to run at 72-75C made a big difference. I use open back headphones and a fractal design R5 in a dead silent area. I also have all of my fans at 40% or less and are made for silence. Top rear & Side panel vents open/fanned. My old MSI 980Ti with MK-26 is dead silent by comparison.
These cards only sag if your case is low quality. No sagging in Define R5.
Sorry buddy I call BS I have a Cosmos II case it's no slouch; the Zotac AMP Extreme weighs more than twice as much as my Titan X did, longer than the Titan X and extends past the width of the motherboard. I could hit someone over the head with the thing and knock them the hell out.
Do you have a link for zotac warranty, I tried looking for it and only seen 3 years if you register.Someone mentioned "extended warranty" as a reason to go with Gigabyte over Zotac -- Zotac offers a 5 year warranty on all their cards if they're registered within 30 days of purchase, so it's actually a year improvement over the Gigabyte.
You must be doing something wrong then or your card is faulty. And as far as I know you had G1, not Xtreme. Card is silent on auto profile. Even on 100% it's not even close to be "loud as hell".
I do have the G1 my apologies, I thought i stated that.
Well, I was talking about gigabyte. Zotac is much more massive so maybe it sags after all.
The gigabyte is pretty huge and heavy too. I have my xtreme gaming in a Corsair 900D and I still get some sag... so I am still calling BS on your 'quality case' comment.
And I also agree that the xtreme gaming is extremely quiet even at 60-70% fan speed. No idea about G1.

I have two 1070 amp extremes and they are amzzing cards run supper cool and quie. They stay under 55c if i put the fan to 50% They do sag though should i be worried about that?
Really - because it seems like the sagging happens due to the weight of the card in the pci-e slot with nothing else to support it at the end. Don't matter what case it's in. You got a big fucking card with no suport on the ass end.
I know it doesn't look great but it's probably harmless. That said it would drive me nuts and I would prop them up with something due to my OCD.
No problems with 1080 Xtreme? I read bad opinions, with not stability on default stock clocks, fan clipping, fins broken.

Or dont worry and buy card? I ordered today.
The rear part can be screwed really hard with two scerewsfor better support and here it depends on how good the metal is. It's the most important part.
Guys. What is real length of Xtreme 1080 ? 289mm or 390mm?
My mistake, misread it. You are correct, 2 years unregistered, 3 if registered within 30 days.Do you have a link for zotac warranty, I tried looking for it and only seen 3 years if you register.

Honestly though, the cards are worth so little after 3 years and newer options so much faster that typically (given upgrade cycles around here at least) anything more than 3 years is pointless.
No fan issues here? I am asking owners of that card, here.
ok ok Raendor so your card is fine ?

I have the Gigabyte Extreme, it arrived yesterday and since have really put it through it's paces.
Firestrike score 19376 unclocked, it's default top speed is 2088mhz.
I added a little overclock to 2126mhz without increasing the voltage or fan speed and then ran Unigine Valley on ExtremeHD and achieved a score of 4531. It remained below 65c throughout the test and the fans were totally silent whilst also remaining totally stable. I then went on to do the test a further 10 more times. View attachment 7734
I have just upgraded from a 690 GTX and the difference is amazing. It's the equivalent of having 2 X GTX 690's in SLI. I think I have been really lucky in the silicon lottery on this card.
What I am most impressed by is the fact I can now play Far Cry 4 on all the very highest settings at 1080p and it never drops below 75fps but on average it stays around 115fps.
On Doom 2016 I am hitting 200fps, NO JOKE!!!!!!!!
I would highly recommend purchasing the Gigabyte Extreme. Build quality is top notch, it's silent and looks amazing in my large Xilence tower.
Whats your ambient room temp? Noticed mine in oc mode rarely cracks 2050. Also noticed some flickering today in BF4 while in OC mode that was fixed by increasing fan speed, wondering If I will need to rma. Could also be that im approaching oc wrong.
Huh I didnt think oc guru 2 worked on the 1080 (I use either Xtreme gaming engine or msi afterburner). What is your voltage setting at? GPU boost 3.0 is a bit odd to get used to

The clock reported by valley and heaven is wrong afaik. I use the afterburner overlay. With a +25 offset and max on all sliders my clock stabilizes at 2050 according to afterburner. This is with fans at around 65%
