how about I restate the question
6800GT OCed to ultra + speeds
or
x800pro vivo unlocked to 16 pipes ---> x800xt pe
Without a doubt, the 6800 is the best value for money, but I dont know which card is actually the best.Macca said:Overall which performs best and is best value for money?
xSyzygy666x said:w/o OCing or tampering the 6800gt is the best deal......however...if you plan on getting a x800vivo and flashing it to 16 pipes..or OCing the 6800gt to ultra speeds...then its basically the features (like sm3.0 and 3dc) price,availability...and mostly which you feel will last longer![]()

If you use linux or plan to use linux, I would go nvidia. The drivers are lightyears beyond what ATI offers, especially if your planning on running a 64 bit os.
That is why ATI really isn't much of an option for me. I use linux, so I'm nvidia all the way, atleast until ATI makes better drivers for linux.

It was my main reason to go Nvidia, after LOVING my previous 9500pro (in windows at least).
IMHO...
$300
6800 all the way.
$400
Each card has it's + & -'s, but the 6800gt owns this price range. 16 pipes at a slower clock rate still beats 12 pipes at a faster clock rate.
$500
Nvidia has the tech, but ATI Owns in pure speed. If you're a slow upgrader, 6800 has a small edge, otherwise X800XT.
