One card is always better then two. not to mention a 680 or 670 is an investment for later when you might want to SLI them later in life.

my suggestion is the 670... pretty damn close to a 680 for a 100 less. idk UK prices though.

i'd shoot for the gigabyte too its the most well rounded

Because it uses the same PCB Gigabyte uses for their 680, and I think even that one is bigger than the reference 680.

670 is a solid choice. There's no practical reason to get a 580 if you're only playing games, especially since they're still not cheap.

From what I see in the anandtech article, the GTX 670 uses 100w less power than a GTX 580 and it's faster. It seems like a no-brainer to me. It will hold better resell value in the long run as well.

is the gigabyte 670 performance better than say.. EVGA and Asus? Msi? which brand would you pick?

Also im running eyefinity at the moment and i will be going to surround? will a 670 cope or will i have 2 SLI it?

From what I remember, ASUS DCII has the highest clocks, followed by MSI, EVGA and Gigabyte. I would rank sheer performance in that order, but Gigabyte and ASUS have the strongest and quietest cooling.

Seeing as how most people overclock 670 anyway, I would recommend those two. MSI PE is kinda giving mixed results

Yes SLI 670s will run nVidia surroud 5760x1080 just fine, might wanna consider a third 670 at some point if you want to run super high AA + settings turned all the way up with nV surround, however.

well since im mid way upgrading my pc i still have an old 5850 from ati i manage to run most games at 5760x1080 it can run battlefield 3 at 1920x1080 on ultra so.. maybe a 670 will be fine?

EVGA if you can find a -KR or -AR 670 would be the best choice. Sure ASUS cool a little better but they only carry a 3yr warranty. -KR from EVGA you can purchase a Lifetime warranty and -AR's come with it without having to buy it but -AR I believe is hard to find in the new 600's as EVGA wants to give buyers a choice on there warranty's.

Also EVGA Allows you to "Step Up" within 90 days, if you feel you need more power, you pay the difference, pay shipping and EVGA will send you the new one in a new box etc. (GOOD program, i've used it personally to go from a 465 GTX to a 560 GTX Ti)

An EVGA product contains a suffix used to identify the warranty. As an example: 130-SB-E675-KR shows -KR for the suffix. This example can be used for all EVGA part numbers when referencing the suffix.

Long-term warranties are available to the original owner on applicable parts if registered by the original owner within 30 days of purchase. A valid invoice is required from an authorized reseller to verify any long term warranty. If parts with long-term warranty availability are not registered within 30 days of purchase, they will have a 3 year limited warranty.

Limited Lifetime Suffixes: -A1, -A2, -A3, -A4, -AR, -AX, -CR, -CX, -DX, -FR, -FX, -SG, -SX
Limited 10 Year Suffix: -XR

Well I happen to have one very nice non reference MDT (multi display tech, like Eyefinity but a bit different, can do 3 monitor gaming with another reserved for desktop)Galaxy 1.5 GB 580 and 2 BNIB PNY GTX 2 GB 670s for sale in the [H] For sale forum. The [H] review of the Galaxy card is here: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2012/01/02/galaxy_mdt_geforce_gtx_580_video_card_review//
Can I link my [H] sale here? Not sure on that point if I can without the mods spanking me. :D

Galaxy consistently makes non reference designs with much better cooling and better power supply circuitry than the reference designs. Don't leave them off that list.

By the way I'm not a Galaxy fanboy... have owned cards from MSI.. EVGA, Asus, Galaxy, and Gigabyte, among others over the years.

Just to make myself clear.
