I just received my computer system a few days ago which includes an Auzentech Prelude X-Fi Soundcard that has a front panel audio connector, The case I'm using is a Cooler Master 830 SE full tower case which includes both AC97 and Intel HD audio front panel connectors. When I received my system I saw that the HD front panel connector was connected to the soundcard, but when I went to the Auzentech website it says in their FAQ that the Prelude X-Fi supports AC97 http://www.auzentech.com/site/support/FAQ.php#xfi. So Why did my Pc builder connect the HD audio connector to it? I know some intel high definition audio headers on intel motherboards are pin compatible with both ac97 and hd audio http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/CS-015851.htm does it work like that on the Prelude X-Fi too? I can see that the signaling is different on both connectors so would it damage my card having the hd audio connector plugged in?
