Okay so I have about $215ish .. little more little less to spend on a good gaming video card.

Ive been told to get the GeForce 6600GT and the GeForce 6800(non ultra). People saying 6600GT > 6800NU then 6800NU > 6600GT so im confused.

Now I thought I would go ATI cause there graphics seemed to amaze me recently. But more people are saying the GeForce's are better for me. I play lineage 2, Counter-strike, WoW, Warcraft TFT so I would like some nicer graphics then a GeForce 4 MX440 64mb

My current set-up is.. Please help me decide which I should purchase.

Intel Pentium 4 2.4GHz
1gig of ram
Abit BH7 motherboard

dual 6600GTs in an SLI format with at least 1 gig of ram...

that'll beat a 6800GT in all tha new games and any games that arnt supportd, cutom profiles can be written, which takes about 1 minute.

why is it that everytime someone ask for video card suggestions, and theres a price limit...some moron says 2x6XXXGT or Ultras in SLI, will own. Does that make your E-Penis feel good? Just to say that?

whoa calm down, Why do you internet people always get so mad, He already got suggestions (which I think are correct) I was just stating what I would like to purchase, I know theres a pries limit and all that, It's just like a bit oof "Man, I wish I could get that" like the people who have dual 6800Ultras or something.

I mean, WTF? It's not like I insulted people or anything? It was (for lack of a better word) a joke.

Best to not feed the noob trolls :)

Indeed

Edit: Plus alot of people have outdated facts about SLI, Im here to spread the good word.

SLI is not the answer for everyone, people. One good card is sometimes better than two. Plus, with one good card you drop old tech for new stuff once it comes out, not simply just adding horsepower onto old tech in order to keep up.

For $215 your best bet will be a 6600 GT. The 6800 NU is faster, but costs more.

Sorry I dont know to much about video cards but what is a SLI?

SLI allows you to run two PCI-E video cards so they can share the load. That way, each card can render half of the frame, or every other frame (simplified a bit, but you get the picture)

As for which card to get, I would go with the 6600GT. The 6800nu is faster, but it's about $80 over your price range.

I run the evga 6600gt (agp) and I absolutely love it. I can easily run Doom 3, HL2, Far Cry... all the heavy hitters. For the price you pay, I have been happy with it. I have it overclock to ~560 core and ~1010 ram, stock is 500 core and 900 ram. Also, the hdtv cable will be great for when the flatscreen arrives ;)
