Which EVGA GTX 570?

i'm pretty sure they will all perform about the same. as far as the 570 with 2 gig of vram goes,your better of to look at a amd 6970. its going to have about the same performance with a better price. you could also look into a 560ti 448 core.
 
Get the basic and cheapest one then OC it. And really, unless you build surround system, the quantity of RAM won't matter in standard FullHD resolution
 
if your sig is current then a gtx570 would be a waste. you dont list your current gpu in your sig but looking through your posts, the last card you mentioned was a gtx260. so there is no point in getting anything faster than what you have with a dual core cpu and for 1280x1024.

I'd actually not recommend either of the two cheaper ones: They use a crappy stock fan in a totally enclosed heatsink. This can (and will) cause the GPU to throttle back very frequently at even stock GPU speed under load. If a fan can't handle a GTX 470, it's likely that it won't do a very good job with the GTX 570.

Doesn't the 570 run significantly cooler than the 470, just like the 580 runs cooler than the 480? I haven't heard of too many issues with GTX 570 stock coolers (although I haven't really looked, either).
 
Get the cheapest one. I have not had one issue with cooling on my GTX570. If you have a good case with nice air flow it will be a non issue. Been gaming with it since July.
 
The stock (reference) GTX570 cooler (used on two cheaper ones) is better than the HD cooler (used on the most expensive, 2.5GB one). Most importantly: it vents the heat outside of your case. The cooler also employs an efficient vapor chamber heatsink and has a much bigger fan than a 470. I experienced no throttling and nice cool temperatures (low 70C's) on my previous cards, two reference 570's.

For your setup at 1280x1024 res per your sig any of those cards are too much. Aim lower, like 6850/6870/560 non-Ti

You may be right on the HD cooler: That's almost exactly the same cooler as an eVGA non-Ti GTX 560 that I have (except that the housing is a bit longer). The fan looks bigger, but the housing allows much of the hot air to get spread around inside the rest of the case.

I guess Nvidia has learned its lesson from the GTX 470: Its reference fan is clearly undersized for the hot-running GPU.
 
Just don't get the last one. The first two have the original reference cooler which stays pretty quiet.

I just took a look at the last card, and it's significantly shorter than the two reference-length GTX 570s. This led me to believe that the 2.5GB eVGA GTX 570 HD is a reference-clocked GTX 570 GPU slapped onto a GTX 560 Ti circuit board. What's more, the HD cooler is exactly the same as the GTX 560 Ti reference cooler.

Yeah, thats what it looks like but it has to be a different pcb since GF104 is a smaller gpu than GF110 on the GTX570. This appears to have same hole spacing as a GTX570. I'm sure that the pcb is very similar to a GTX560ti though and the cooler does look the same.

I have never understood why so many people have said that the GTX 470 at stock clocks with the stock reference cooler runs hot. I read that time and time again in reviews as well as from people on forums. Maybe they tweaked the GTX 470 a little from the initial launch compared to when I bought mine one year ago, but I have an EVGA GTX 470 with the reference cooler and it runs a lot cooler than my EVGA GTX 260 (192) with the reference cooler at both idle and under load after 4-5 hours of gaming. My GTX 470 after a 4 hour gaming session (for example, The Witcher 2) runs 10c cooler than my GTX 260 ever did when gaming. It also runs 10c cooler at idle compared to the GTX 260.

As for which GTX 570, I would go with one with a reference cooler so it can dump more of the heat outside the case. Personally, even though I have a decent case, I would never buy a gpu with a cooler that doesn't put all the heat (or should I say at least almost all) out the back of the card outside the case.

I had an earlier one myself and it was the most ridiculously loud and hot running card I have used. it would hit over 90C in games and the noise was intolerable for me. I gladly returned it and went back to my slower 65nm 192sp gtx260 as it was basically silent and never went above high 70s.

Wow. That tells me that they tweaked it a lot in the first six months. I bought mine on Black Friday just over a year ago and it has been a very cool running card as well as quieter compared to my GTX 260. Both cards (470 and 260) are EVGA with the reference cooler. I guess I got lucky with the 470 by waiting six months after release to buy mine.

Different PCB's and heatsinks, but shrouds and fans are similar. The 570 and 560Ti chips have different footprints.
