Which display is right for me?

I'm probably in the most difficult position for deciding what monitor is right for me. I'm artist... well I do 3D modeling/sculpting for games and video, digital painting, video game mods, etc etc... So game performance and color correctness are both very important, as well as decent contrast, high resolution. I'm looking for 2 professional displays that can rotate, and aren't too bloody expensive. Of course I'll be watching movies and what not so basically everything is important. I think I'm going to be looking at 24in displays.

Would a wide gamut display be a problem for you, or are all your colour critical applications colour managed?
What could be defined as expensive to you for each montior, >€600 or >€1000?

is color management that much of a hassle? Sounds like I need to research more before looking into it.
