Are the Horizontal Mounted Coolers ( Blowing air onto motherboard ) or Vertical Mounted Coolers ( Blowing air out of the back of the case ) , better ?

Currently have a Zerotherm Nirvana 120mm ,

Looking to buy Xigmatek HDT-S1283 (Vertical) or Xigmatek HDT-S1284(Horizontal) coolers ( so that it cools the motherboard )

Dont know if they will be better than Nirvana

Anybody has any other horizontal cooler to recommend ?

My personal opinion is a horizontal one as I am quite particular about the mosfets and chipsets getting too hot and shortening the life of my board. Even at stock modern chipsets are running so hot and I sometimes wonder if manufacturers are purposely not cooling them properly in order to shorten their life. Another factor is if you have a windowed case you want to be able to see the face of the fan? And also sometimes 120mm fan equiped vertical coolers just cannot fit into normal tower cases

The best vertical coolers right now are better than the best horizontal ones. You probably wouldn't see any improvement going to either of the Xigmateks you listed, although the HDT-S1283 is the better of the two.

The Nirvana is a very good heatsink, so I suggest you just stick with it.
