the one on the left is PC Wizard, also, I have no idea how to change the tjmax to 100, I went to settings and couldn't find where to do that...

it was at 0°C in my first screenshot, and when I select "show delta to tjunction max temp." I get temps in the 60s, which I find hard to believe considering my bios, pc wizard and everest show that it's not that high..

then instead of 0 try 15 or -15 to get a 100c tjmax, one of those will work

edit: remove the delta tjmax checkmark as well since that will not actually tell you the temp but the distance

and sorry but real temp is wrong it's gonna be the tjmax thing again, in the real temp settings set the tjmax to 100v again and it will show the same as all the others.

note: temp programs work off the tjmax, basically the processor shows how far it is from the specified tjmax and thats how you get the temp

You might want to remount your cooler and check case airflow. Temps shouldn't be that high at idle, especically with speedstep on.

done that about 10-15 times now in the last week working on a failed bsel mod, everytime the temps are the same, a factor may be that I bought the cpu lapped, would that make a difference...? if you have a lapped cpu do you also need a lapped cooler for proper contact...? or doesn't it matter...? I thought they were high, but it only goes up in the high 50s when running prime95, that's obviously not desirable, but it is acceptable, isn't it...? I guess I could try to find the lowest possible voltage for my OC (1.36v idle, 1.376v loaded)...

It's hard to lap a HDT cooler, although I did my S1283. The lapper CPU shouldn't make a difference, in fact it should help.

Buy the bolt-thru kit and use that instead of the those push-pins. Like I said they get weak after you put them on and take them off a few times. I bet that's your problem.

I think technically Realtemp's 'Distance to TJMax' temp is the only accurate one.

From what I understand, the processor only reports relative core temp values and these programs give you an absolute temperature by assuming a value for TJMax, usually 95 or 100, and subtracting from that. I don't think Intel specifies TJMax values, which vary from processor to processor, so it's hard to get a truly accurate value.

intel already disclosed tjmax values for the core 2's, and the q6600's value is 100c

intel first said it was 90c for the q6600 but a discussion in the intel developer forum said it was 100c and that is what most people set it to for the q6600
