Im upgrading from my Xigmatek HDT-S128 because im not that happy with the overall performance of it. So I've compiled a list of heatsink im looking into and wanted to get your opinion

My choices.

Coolermaster V8

Thermalright Ultra 120(Newer model)

Noctua NH-U12P

So which one would you pick?

Also if you have a suggestion on one in the price range of sub 70 then tell me. I also want to stay away from Direct heatpipe designs.

the Xigmatek HDT-S128 isnt doing it for you? i was thinking of getting one.

the only heatsink above the xig is the TRUE.. but your talking maybe 2-3C difference in temps unless you run an insanely high CFM fan..

Don't get me wrong its a great cpu cooler its just I can't seem to get the sweet spot and this is my very first HDT so I can't seem to get it the right temps im wanting it. I think if I had better knowledge of hdt design then I don't think I would be getting rid of mine.

If your still interested in one I will sell you mine. including screw in bracket :) just let me know.

Well the s184 doesnt' compare as good as the s183 so I think I will get better results than 2-3c. And also the Noctua is one of the top heatsinks out in some test it actually beats the TRUE

as for the noctua.. the one beating the true is the 1366 version that comes with a stock push pull configuration.. if im not mistaken the lga-775 version only comes in a push config stock.. but really it all depends on what you want.. quiet with good cooling.. or just pure insane cooling where sound doesnt matter.. thats pretty much the difference between the noctua and TRUE..

The TRUE can be had for 49.99 without a fan here. Then you can take a pick of whatever your fav. fans are. Also, you don't need super high CFM fans all you are going to get is allot of added noise, I had MAYBE 2C change in temps when running dual 150+cfm delta fans to my single 900rpm fan I am running now. You are better off lapping, that is where you will see major gains, get the TRUE lapped and your CPU if you can (or feel up to it) as well.
