Hello everybody its been a while. 8 years ago when I build this computer I was really into modding and was going to post a picture in the thread where everybody mods their cases. I never got around to posting any pictures, but the case came out pretty cool looking.
Anyway now that my comp is about 8 years old I've been trying to get some extra speed out of it without buying a whole new computer.
I had a Radeon 9500 for those 8 years up until a few weeks ago I ordered a 7300GT to be able to use the high quality settings in HL2. For $60 it was worth it, the graphics difference is amazing.
So the video card was my gaming bottleneck, and now that I got a new one my CPU has become my bottleneck, reducing my framerate. Socket A cpus are rare and expensive, which leads me to overclocking.
Everest specs:

So I did this crazy mod the the processor when I first got it. This involved filling in the ground between the L1 caches and then connecting them with a windshield repair kit. This unlocked my multiplier.
So the FSB lets me change it all the way up to 200 but of course the computer will not boot up with this setting. So I was wondering, how do you find out what is limiting the FSB? It could be the northbridge, the ram, the pci slots, or even the processor. I'm not sure how to find out.
My north bridge has no active cooling. Is there any way to find out which component is limiting my FSB?

Mine is running at 166 fsb, I dont know where they get 333 fsb from, I think the highest my mobo goes to is 233 or 266.
Right now my processor is running at 13x and 166fsb giving me about 2.1ghz
I can overclock up to about 2.4ghz, but it is unstable after a while. If I got a better cooling system for my processor would I maybe be able to keep it stable at 2.4?
Thank you everybody. I know it makes more sense for me to buy a new comp than to keep dumping money into this old artifact, but if I could just eek out a little more CPU speed I would be very happy. Thanks!
