Which Combo For Overclocking? (Poll Inside) Need Advice

Hey, everyone I've put together two combos (Intel and AMD) and I am trying to decide which I want more so for overclocking. Here are the combos:

Combo 1 (AMD)

Motherboard: DFI Ultra-D: $138.99
CPU: San Diego 3700+: $335.00
Memory: 2X512MB OCZ Gold PC 3200 2-2-2-5: $152

Total: $625

Combo 2 (Intel)

Motherboard: Asus P5WD2 Premium: $245
CPU: P4 630: $225.99
Memory: 2X512MB Corsair XMS2 DDR 667 3-2-2-8 $275

Total: $745

I tried to get the combos as evenly priced as possible. The ram I have with the Intel combo has a pretty good chance of hitting DDR 1066. Suggestions?

depends on what you want to do really. AMD's will give you an ok overclock and their performance is best seen in gaming scenarios. pentium's overclock nicely and will perform best in encoding/editing tasks.

personally, id go with the AMD option, as im a gamer, and im biased

That OCZ Gold uses the new Winbond BH-5 chips, I'm not exactly sure how far you can push those, compared to something like the new OCZ VX. They need more voltage, but should hit higher speeds yet maintain the same tight timings.

Well the BH-5 should need LESS voltage than the VX, which uses CH-5, but at this point in the UTT memory dump going on, the difference is negligible, as evidenced by the AWESOME OCZ PC4000VX.
It's like this. You will get killer memory benchmarks and SuperPi runs with your P4 system, but incredible Aquamark and 3Dmark scores with your AMD.
The SuperPi runs are very close though, so that just leaves you with the SiSoft memory marks.....
All in all, I'd go the AMD unless you feel like breaking away and seeing just how much you can stand out from the crowd at the moment

If you are gunna bench, bench with something unusual (e.g. Dothan overclocking) or top-of-the-line. The reason is because nobody cares about the people in the middle, only about the people at the top

I see that as being neither so I would move away from benching and build a computer that you will feel comfortable with rather than one just for benches

I am still working on tweaking the system and I am waiting for more parts (XP-90 and NV cooler 5) but so far I can tell you that the intel one is a very nice option.

I voted for the Intel one because they do pretty good OC's and they are pretty good in gaming but won't beat AMD, and P4 because it will owned when you do some encoding and also because i am a Intel Boy.

AMD because that is one of the best mobos out, AMD > intel (omg teh phlames!) and 2-2-2-5 is damn nice
