Which Chipsets/Mobos Do Not Have boot issue problems?

I'm finally fed up with my 965P-DS3 rev 3.3 boards inability to restart (or shutdown and start up again in a reasonable amount of time). It also frsutrated me that there was little documentation about getting a SATA hard drive to run in 3.0GB mode, which I think I royally flubbed anyway.

I'm looking to switch out my motherboard with a something $130 or less that is relatively pain free on setup (I'm looking at you SATA HD) and will run my E6420 at 333-400 Mhz FSB. I don't need RAID, Firewire, SLI or anything special. Just need it to WORK the way it should.

Are all the intel chipsets plagued by warm/cold boot issues?

Is there a board you would recommend for my needs?

I'm having the same issues with my 965P-DS3 rev. 1.3. Will be watching this thread in earnest.

afaik ICH8 only supports AHCI officially under Vista (but can be hacked in XP).
It's not really going to make much difference as only burst transfer from cache will get over 150Mb/s & that's going to be a tiny % of usage.
HDDs are mechanically limited in their transfer rates - a typical 7,200rpm HDD has a continuous transfer rate of ~ 55-60Mb/s.

You're having issues with the computer not restarting or being unable to start up again soon after a shutdown?

From your sig it looks like you're running XP, so I'm glad it's not a Vista issue (I'm running Vista Home Premium).
