Hey guys, Im having a hard time to decide which card to get because of the 128mb vs. 256mb, core speeds, effective speed, and between the 128bit and 256bit, and ddr vs ddr3
I have a list of the cards that are in the 165- 190 price range and that are most interesting to me. Hopefully you guys can give me some info and tips on which one to choose. Thanks I appreciate it.

I don't really see the point in getting a 5700 or 5900 with 256MB of RAM. Won't really do much for you. Also, if you look at the Asus card you listed, the 256MB of RAM it has is the slowest performing RAM out of all 4 cards. It's also a non-Ultra 5700. (which you really don't want for gaming) It's probably actually going to hurt you more than help you to buy that card, compared to the other 3, since 98% of the time you probably won't use that extra RAM anyway.

The 5900XT will beat the 5700 Ultra, yes even with slower RAM... and the 5900xt usually overclocks pretty well too (if you care about that)

WTF!!??!!!! i 150+ for a shit 5700??? omfg..... get a 9800pro.... geezz... good thing u didnt sheel out 170 bucks for a 5700... get a 9800pro!! 9800pro!!!!!! gosh.. do more research wil ya... u can get a 9800pro for 175..... it will outperform the 5700 by at least 3 times.... :p 9800pro 9800pro 9800pro or if ya want a 5700.. get it for 75 bucks if its any more than no, 9800pro!!!!! gosh good thing u didnt buy it already

I have a 9800 pro. . .but I have yet to use it because my heatsink, processor and hard drive have not been ordered yet. maybe I should get on that.

listen to the retarded chicken :p....i have a 9800 pro and it r0xx05 lol....but anyway, its a great card, overclocks like a beast, and runs all the games i play at good resolutions and with good detail levels (UT2004: all highest 1280x1024, Doom3: High 1024x768, etc.)

so, by all means, get the 9800 PRO, AND MAKE SURE IT IS THE 256-BIT VERSION (not to be confused with 256mb....

good luck!

9800 Pro over ALL ofthe cards you mentioned man. It is a good card for the price...

A 5900xt is the slowest 5900 out there... 9800 pro in that price range, any day.

My old 9700 Pro would run Doom 3 43 fps in a timedemo, High Quality 1024x768, my friend is running it on his A64 now and he is veyr happy with it, 9800 Pro is slightly faster then that too :)

Definitely 9800 Pro. Had it run doom 3 1024x768 ultra detail. Ran kind of choppy but game is very playable :)

aight since everyone is saying radeon 9800 pro, so i bought a VISIONTEK XTASY 9800 PRO RADEON 9800 PRO 128MB DDR AGP8X W/ CRT, TVO, & DVI - RETAIL BOX think it was worth it?

How much was it? that's the only question, if you spent over 180 on it but less than 200 on it... you got... a sorta decent deal but it's iffy, anything under 180 is a good deal though.

no, the started selling 128bit ram versions that suck... Beware. Although they ussually sell for cheaper...

That's a 256 bit card and I think you will be happy with it. After the Sapphire 128 bit 9800pro scandal, I think mfrs started naming most 128 bit cards differently (PowerColor "9800proEZ", Sapphire "9800 Atlantis", etc.).

9800Pro has some bang, especially for the price. I got mine for $207 almost a year ago and it was worth every penny.

in my opinion i say get a 6600gt Agp at the end of november when they come out.

they are in your price range at 200 bucks.

they are faster than a 9800xt. (see hardforums.com , video cards, 6600gt vs 9800 for reference)

they support pixel shader 3.0, ultra shadow, and newest direct x.

thats my opinion.
that would be a much much better purchase that a 5700 (which is just a nv30 core)
or a 5900 (nv35 core)

or to some extent a 9800.
