Which card will perform better?

trade blows depending on which game you play, with the 4890 edging on top.
 
4890 is faster than a 260 in the majority of games.

260 = 4870, 275 = 4890, roughly speaking.
 
the vid card is gonna provide a much higher performance leap than a phenom 2 would at this point. if i were you, i would definitely oc the cpu you have now though.
 
The HD 4890 its definitively the better card, it competes with the GTX 275 which is faster than the GTX 260+ and with the recent optimizations done in the drivers, it's even trading blows with the GTX 285, specially when overclocked.

With the ATi card you get better Blu Ray acceleration, better color in your display, the best anti aliasing in the market plus DX10.1, with the GTX 260 (Better off with the faster GTX 275) you will get better power consumption, the best Anisotropic filtering in the market, PhysX and CUDA.
