Which card one of THESE TWO cards would perform better in Half-life 2?

1. Geforce FX5700 256mb 8XAGP
2. Geforce 4Ti 4200 128mb 8XAGP

both cost about the same under $100
 
dont get the 5700, that card cant handle anything. my personal experience. when playing games the maps would sometimes disappear. i think that was cause of the temps. i was never really happy with that card

both of those cards wont get that good of performance in hl2. but then again i think the 5700 will make it. i gave the card to my bro when i got the 9800xt. he plays hl2 with it with okay frames.
 
this is a clear choice. the geforce fx 5700 is the winner. it is a newer chip and has more memory.
 
I have a friend running a 5700 Ultra in HL2 and he managed to get it at 1024x768 with many eyecandy enabled. Dunno about the GF4 but i think it is a older DX version card.
 
ummm don't get any of these... save up for a 9600xt... which can run HL2 is DX9.0 instead of the crappy performnce the 5700 get when dx9 is enabled in HL2.. better yet.. find some store that sells the 9600xt for the money u have now.. or even save up for a 9800pro... it's so worth the extra money..
 
i think im going to save for a better card... the computer im putting the card is on an older pentium 4 1.5GHz with 512MB ram soo i think getting anything higher than a 9700pro would be a waste of money....

The thing is I bought a 9700pro from www.allstarshop.com and the card just overheats that i get random colors and artifacts on my desktop granted that on that machine it use to have a fx5200 I booted into safemode took off the drivers using drivercleaner and wiped out nvidia drivers then installed the new 9700pro into the computer loaded the new cat drivers and after some time i will get nasty artifacts and random shapes and colors on the screen JUST IN DESKTOP i was to scared to run a game like half-life2.

I popped back in the fx5200 and everything was working great! sooo either the card was defective which i doubt because i have bought soooo many cards inlcuding a my current card a x800xt and never had a card that was faulty sooo im leaning towards getting a NVIDIA card which is why i was looking at a fx5700 or a fx5800 or a g4Ti4200 and not a ati card....the computer just doesn't like ati drivers.

Soo what NVIDIA card do you guys recommend on this system to run half-life 2 that will be much better than fx5200 for $150.00 budget? What sucks is that all the 6600 cards are ALL FUCKEN PCIE!!!!!!!!!! :mad:

Any recommendations??

in DX8 the FX cards should not be thought of as DX9 cards im sorry there DX9 speed just sucks if you want a last gen card look at 9600Pro or 9700Pro in that price range
better yet 6600GT or X700
 
I'd recommend a 4200 over a 5700 simply because the FX line is shit, it's not dx9 like they said and the 4200 at least you know you're getting shitty speeds.

i want to get 6600 cards but there is NO agp cards all are pci EXPRESS! READ THE POST I PUT ABOVE

Not all 6600's are PCI-e.. Unless your saying, 6600 ONLY, and not the GTs..
XFX 6600GT , This is an AGP card.

Nice find but its a little out of my price range...i can't believe it the same card on pci-E costs only $140 but the agp is fucken $300+ thats bullshit!

What do you guys think of this card? http://www.buyxg.com/store/item.asp?key=VC-125-130 should play half-lfie 2 better than a fx5200 right?
