I have the bfg 6800gt oc and also the x800pro, I used the 6800gt for doom3, and the x800pro for hl2, have there been any benchmarking done with BF2 to claim the better card yet?

Hi if you go to the Eagames site for BF2. on that page on the bottom you can see the nVidia logo on it. i think nVidia might be the better card because it has ta SM 3.0. o ya GL n have fun

the 6800 b/c there is a specific nvidia forceware driver for the game and ati doesn't have squat that and the splash screen on the demo is nvidia so....

NVIDIA, I would think by the logo at startup, I know BFV ran better on my 6800GT that anyhting out, other than SLI. I dont think, it really matters, both top NV and top ati cards will run it fine. Whats the trouble of firgureing it out worth? 1-5% diffrence????

(nvidia logo at startup???)

Yes in the demo that is out now they have a nVidia ad while its loading up. So you might want to use the 6800!

The G70 and BF2 are being released/announced on the same day. Coincidence I think not...

Were tlaking a 3-4% diffrence between ATI and NV in that game...big woop..I still say NV for all games because I dont have to deal with ATI drivers... :p

suporting my statement... it dosnt matter, any high end card with run it great!

this guy runs 16x12, I can do it too on my 6800...all of us that spend the $$ on one of the higher end cards are in busness! Yea for us!

I think the same, similar cards will run the game similarly....but saying NV just because it's a TWIMTBP game it's pure BS.

The driver thing is BS too. Never had a single problem with drivers in a lot of cards...all the way back to 7200....but then this ain't a driver arguement

But if that's the way u feel unlucky on missing out on the current fastest single solution card ;)

EDIT : Just had a quick blast. Wicked game :D Runs smooth as fuck on my rig full everything....sure go NVidia

Could someone tell me what a G70 is?

I like most AGP motherboard owners are now forced to look for a faster video card. Is there much differene between a GeForce 6800 GT vs. Ultra is they are both 256MBB cards?

I figure I'll wait until the game comes out to see how fast it runs on people's systems.

I didn't think my Geforce 6600GT would already be out dated so soon!

if i wasnt so opposed to paying for a "upgrade" that didnt perform much better id get rid of this 6800 ultra in a heartbeat for an Ati card. Nvidia needs to get its head out of its ass on the 6800 series drivers. I mean they havent been able to fix the texture shimmering in bf42 thats been there since release.

G70 is the name of the chipset for the next generation og Geforce cards so like Geforce 7200, 7500, 7700, 7900 (If I remember correctly nVidia does Odds odds and evens evens on their numbering system)

And on that Ultra question, not much only clock # you're better off buying a GT and OCing it.

g70 = nvidia newest graphics card.

it will be announed on the 22nd.

its supposed to be bad assz

FYI EQ2 and WoW carry the TWIMTBP logo and both run faster on ATI equivelent hardware.

The logo means squat for performance.

yah it will be christmas when u can actually get ur hands on one hehe :)

also.....I would say the 6800gt would be faster... 16 pipes vs 12 pipes + nvidia game, and the battlefield series....which nvidia always perform better..but anyways...

use any of the cards.....what you should be worried about is the ram :)

I've been playing the BF2 demo like crazy on my x800xt @ 1280x1024 with everything cranked up, and it doesn't skip a beat. Very smooth. I'm sure the 6800gt I just sold will do the same.

Spend 300+ on a vid card, and you're all set.....actually, you could probably spend a lot less and BF2 will still be "playable". Depends on how picky you are about resolutions and details.

well you should bump up th resolution on ur XT to 1600x1200 max AA/AF and everything on max except for texture.... put that on medium.... makes a big diff in fps and u cant tell teh differece :)

What are you smoking? nVidia got killed in BFV by ATi cards and their SLI didn't even do so hot. To answer the OPs question, the ATi cards run battlefield games better than nVidia cards, always have and still do. Just as a comparison, my 6800 Go Ultra runs BF 2 like shit (pauses and stutters) yet I can crank it up to 1600x1200 full details on my X800XT PE and its smooth sailing. Also people that say nVidia drivers are better than ATi are smoking some good shit. Now that I've had EXTENSIVE experience with nVidia drivers I can say with complete confidence that ATi's Catalysts are more reliable. I've been constantly switching between Forceware drivers just to find a decent set that didn't have bugs with one of my games.

hmmm, my 6800gt ran BFV just fine, I ran that game 1280x960, 8x AF and i never droped below 50fps, and that was online with 45+ palyers.. Also my firends has 2 ultras in SLI, he runs 1600x1200, full AA and AF and it runs higher FPS than I do... Im no saying ATI dose bad, the one ATI rig I have to work with runs good but not as good as all the 6800s around me..

My 6800GT clocks in sig, as well as specs...

my 6800 Go Ultra runs BF 2 like shit (pauses and stutters)
Well it is a "GO" and the shuttering you mention was probley because its a laptop screen. (IE flat pannel)

Drivers? I Just said that to watch all the fan boys get there pannies in a bunch...

Could I run bf2 on a 6600 (non GT) @ 1024x768 with settings cranked ? ? Would a GT be able to run it cranked @ that res even ? x700 (non pro) , x700pro ?

3200 64/1gb OCZ 400mhz/3200 ?/?????

I play on my 6800nu with everything maxed @ 1280x1024 on a LCD, very smooth, brother plays on a 6600GT @ 1024x768 with most things on high, im sure a 6600 will be able to play, with some settings on medium but most things on high. Does anyone know the FPS console command for the game?

i wonder if a OC could do it........I really wanna get bf2 going @ at least 40 fps (minimum), on a more "BUDGET" oreinted card...

I just played BF2 demo on an X850 XT-PE and a 6800 Ultra. The X850 XT-PE is faster in the BF2 demo.

read some reviews on the GO ultra. It'll beat your GT at stock speeds.

And what does shuttering have to do with flat panels or laptops screens? If he intended to say tearing, then that's related to refresh rates and v-sync, but if he just meant stuttering or drops in frame rates, that has absolutely nothing to do with the display. You'll get tearing on a CRT if you don't have v-sync on.

yea but I didnt buy a 6800GT to keep it stock.. :p

I know what you saying about tearking, but i still never use Vsync, i just it off and my display at 100Hz.. or 85Hz depending on resoultion. I hate gamming on pannels, they allways seem to have that shuttering effect, makes me natious. I might be explaing it wrong..but even my newer 8ms viewsonic makes me natious, maybe im doing somethign wrong..

Arg.. I re-read this entire post...

Sorry I started a "my cock is bigger than yous" fight...

It seems any top end card run BF2 good, dose it really matter past that?

Hey if you want some fun come to our server, TXGF Server 1 (make sure TXGF is in caps)

OK I have 2 nice rigs, 1 is SLI nvidia 6800GT's and the other is ATI A64 on an Nforce 4 board.

ATI Machine Runs 1280x960 all on high no AA>50 fps no issue on 2001FP
AMD 3200+ Winchester 90nm OC'd to 2.68 (268x10 CBBHD)
MSI Neo Platinum
1 Gig Corsair PC4000XL Pro
2 seagate 200 7200.7's PATA
ATI X800XL (NGO Drivers with ATI Tray tools)
With my ATIX850XT 1600x1200 all on high 8xAA > 50FPS on 2001FP (NGO Drivers with ATI Tray tools)

NVidia Machine Runs 1600x1200 8xAA > 50FPS on 2001FP
AMD 3500+ Winchester OC'd to 2.8
MSI Neo Platinum SLI
2 Gig Corsair PC4000XL Pro
2 Maxtor 300 gig 16MB Cache HD
2 Nvidia 6800GT (Battlefield forceware drivers)

Both run this game without issues >50 fps at 1280x960

Lets just say that Battlefield 2 stomps on your graphics.

My specs in Sig.

I can run Aquamark and get High 78,000's.

I can run FarCry and HalfLife 2 everything maxed no problems. (1280x960 Res)

Battlefield 2 most things maxed except Dynamic light and shader set at medium and AAx2. (1280x960 Res)

If I try to take the shader or light or AA up anymore it bogs. Seems like a very fine line.

By the way the game still looks amazing without having everything maxed.

Spend the most money you can.

slight problem with your statement. There is no 1280x1024 supported resolution in the demo. At least not on mine and alot of other peoples who have noted this. Unless you found a way around this? The highest it goes is 1280x960 unless you can support 1600x1200.

So it seems that running this game @ near max settings on a 1024 etc res is possible, and smooth, which is what I want. (all I want really), I am going to wait until the end of the month for price drops with the g70 launch, I am hoping it has a big effect. (doing a internal upgrade to my comp, mobo, ram, cpu, vid. etc.

The way its meant to be played? Whatever. My bro has a GT and has nothing but texture corruption with bf2. Also, the game insists that he updates his drivers although he has the latest from Nvidia(whql). quote from my bro: "plays like shit on this card. i was at 1024 and was still laggin. lots
of shaders problems and visual errors and just really bad shit. Plus
it kept telling me to update my drivers. WTF!!! "The way it's meant to
be played" I dont think so...

I have no problems with my X800XL, playing at 1280X1024 on an lcd max qual settings. At least ATI has had a new driver since April! I had a GT myself, and D3D games were shit, IMO. I had problems with SWBF, SW Lego, and other D3D games. The GT ran D3 mint but who wants to spend $400 on a D3 card thats crap for a lot of other games. SOLD.

I'm playing BF2 just fine with my 6600GT. 1024x768/75 with all settings but two on high. I think it is textures and one other that are on medium. Haven't turned on fps to see my frame rate, but I'm not having any problems with this set up and still doing a bit of ownage out there. So bring it on homeslice with your $300 and $400 cards! :D

At the same time, I miss my old 9800Pro. Seems like everything just played smoother with it. Plan to switch back to ATI on the next card purchase.

I believe Far Cry is also a TWIMTBP game and tend to perform a bit better on ATi cards.

The game wouldnt even load on my GeForce 4 Ti 4200

....guess it's time for a new card :D :D
