I had a 6950 2GB for about a month, then returned it since the 78xx's finally got announced.

I kept thinking I was going to get the 7870 since that's the one every one seems to be raving on between the two with even [H] saying 7850 isn't worth it's price.

But now i'm really wondering if it's all I need, I only single monitor game and almost never in full screen so my max res for a gaming window is like 1680 x 1050 on a 1920x1080 monitor, or 1368x768 over on the 42 (bachelor pad room sizes leave not much room for any better setups) .

the 6950 ran everything I wanted in full settings without any problems, and right now as a stop gap i'm using a GTX 260, so should I be fine with 7850 if I'm not planning on any changes to my setup in the foreseeable future? I have not seen any comparisons between the 6950's and 7850's in reviews so that's why I'm confused.

you dont need anything crazy at those resolutions.. it's unclear what resolution are you actually playing on...

it's either or, if i'm sitting at my desk, i'm playing the game windowed @ 1680 x 1050, if i'm lounging on the couch, i'm gaming @ 720p full screen.

where it's got me, is even tho I know i'm gaming at lower resolution, I do enjoy turning on all the bells and whistles.. and I only buy a new card every 2-3 years so I like to future proof myself as much as I can.
