Looking at these boards, which is the better one for overclocking a 45nm cpu and crossfire.

Newegg.com - DFI LANPARTY DK X38-T2RB LGA 775 Intel X38 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards

Newegg.com - ASUS P5E LGA 775 Intel X38 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards
open box (should i?)
Newegg.com - Intel X38, Intel X38/X48, LGA 775, Intel Motherboards, Motherboards, Computer Hardware

P45

Newegg.com - ASUS Maximus II Formula LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards

im leaning more to the P45 i listed above.

yeah i would go with the Asus even though im not a fan of there customer service.

The Asus P5Q series is well known to be an overclocking beast. However, keep in mind that an X48 board will allow your crossfire to have your PCI-e slots both in 16x where as the P45 will be x8, but you probably can't tell the difference in real world performance.

i prefer my boards to have either A: Active chipset cooler and mosfet coolers. or B: Large passive coolers.
