Or any other suggestions.

My price range is in the $250 area and with the features I want that gets me a 24" 1080p 144hz, 1ms monitor.

Now which one is the question.

I was looking at the Asus vg248qe but than someone told me the Ben Q XL2411z was better. That led me to start looking at the Ben Q monitors and I see they have a few to choose from in my price range.

Which one would you get?

Xl2411z, xl2411t or any other?

The XL2411T is an old obsolete 120hz lightboost only monitor, although newer versions were updated to be pwm free. Avoid it. The XL2411T was *replaced* by the XL2411Z, and the XL2420TE was replaced by the XL2420Z.
 
I'm interested in this thread, as well, though my budget would be more flexible. Is it safe to assume that since the XL2420Z costs more than the XL2411Z that it's overall a better gaming monitor?
I'm hoping I don't have to do much calibration to it after purchasing.
 
Image quality wise they are the same, as the panel itself is physically the same, but I've heard conflicting reports about the image quality of the 2420Z being better than the 2411Z. I can't confirm or deny that.

XL2420Z has a displayport connector and a *VERY* useful S-switch remote, which the XL2411Z does not. The XL2411Z should be considered entry level and should be treated as such. XL2420Z is the mainstream product. Just having the S-switch and displayport connector available is worth the $100 price difference.

The XL2430T was supposed to supercede it, much like the XL2420Z superceded the XL2420TE, but the wonky profile bugs and the original black equalizer 2.0 bugs (which were later fixed in later firmware versions) made some people prefer the XL2420Z.. Also the XL2430T does not have 3d vision 2, and there are people out there who refuse to buy a monitor without 3d vision support.

Funny enough, Benq said that the XL2411Z was end of life over one year ago, and then they had a 'fire sale' on them through their own webshop. I guess they changed their mind, with how popular they were selling.

Resolutions switch slightly faster on displayport and you don't need any pixel clock patchers to exceed 330.00 MHz pixel clock. That being said, the color depth will switch to 6 bit from 8 bit, if the pixel clock exceeds 360.00 MHz, unless the monitor supports high bit rate 2 (and only the Benq XL2730Z which is a full spec'd displayport 1.2 monitor supports that, along with many other of the 1440p 144hz gaming panels). So if you can go for very high pixel clocks and refresh rate overclocks (Benq monitors are firmware locked past 145 hz, so this does not apply to them), it's better to use DVI, since DVI doesn't have a color bit depth limit, as long as the TDMS chips and scaler and cable can handle it. Of course for DP 1.2+ monitors that actually support the full capabilities, DP is always better.
