Hey all, real quick question: I'm probably going to order the Thermochill 92.1 radiator from here:

Down at the bottom they have barbs for it, both nickel and plastic. I remember reading somewhere that it can be bad to mix metals in a wc setup, so assuming copper blocks, I would be better off getting the plastic barbs, correct? Thanks :)
 
If I'm soldering new fittings to a heater core or radiator, my fittings need to be raw brass. I'm not sure if nickel-plating makes a good solder joint. Will raw brass fittings create unwanted galvanic reactions in a water cooling loop?
 
no probs Rocky, brass and copper work fine in the same loop. if you are using the coolant that came with the pump/res i sent you you will be just fine. what did you end up doing with the rad BTW?
 
Really best not to mix metals at all, if you can help it, but nickel plated brass should cause no issues.

The nylon plastic fittings ThermoChill supplies are actually really nice. Single barb design with "anti-twist" dimples at the clamping points, and they really don't demand any hose clamps at all. No reason not to go with the nylon fittings, in my opinion, unless you're going for aesthetics. Looks pretty slick with black nylon fittings though, if I do say so myself.

I'm ordering the Be Cooling radiator because it is the only one that I think will fit. I sent to Be Cooling the raw brass Perfect Seal fittings from Danger Den to see if they can be retrofitted. After my water cooling system is completed and tested, I may tweak and upgrade the individual components.

Thanks very much for making sure that the rather expensive RP-1000 assembly I ordered was of the latest version. It arrived with nickel-plated compression fittings and coil stents that I can use to prevent tube kinking. Your service at www.wccustompc.com really rocks!
