Which 9800's have R360 core?

I have a great, OC'd 9700Pro on Arctic Cooler, but am thinking abt either adding a tuner card or going with one of those 9800Pro AIW's on the Egg for $234... Or poss just upgrade to a 9800Pro since someone wants my card.

A friend got an MSI 9800Pro and it has the mighty R360 (just like the 9800XT) core instead of the R350.

I am NOT going to buy an Nvidia due to driver interence with the stuff I do on the machine besides gaming... Not gonna go X800 series either (not for now).

Thanks!

I just got a BBA 9800 Pro from Bestbuy for 200$ (after price match with Comp-Usa). It has the R360 core, although I don't know how one would benefit with it over the R350... Infact, I believe that the R350 overclocks like mad, from what I am told...

Probably all the 9800's are on the R360 core now. I bet all supplies of 9800 on R350 have been sold, and only R360's are left.

Yep, sounds about right. The R350 core was discontinued last spring, so cards gradually started showing up with the R360 core. I got mine in June with the R360, and flashed to an XT when I did my watercooling at the end of July. Now it's volt-modded. :D

The R360 core is the same core that the 9800XT uses. You can flash a 9800 Pro with a R360 core to a 9800XT. It doesn't work on all of the cards, but it seems to have a very high sucess rate. The best thing to do is check if your card will run at XT speeds through just overclocking, and then try flashing it to a XT bios. I'm sure there are plenty of guides out there.

Guides for XT-flashing, and volt-modding are in the articles section at RojakPot. Lots of good stuff there. :)

And as has been mentioned, make sure that you are NOT on stock cooling, and that your card can make it to 412/365 rock solid before you flash.

I got a msi 9800 pro 128 mb for xmas and was wondering how can i find out what core it has, is it a r360 or r350 cause i want to know if i can flash the bios to an xt. i dont know much about this so is there a site that has the bios or should i just use the msi live update 3? thanks,

oh and how often does flashing the bios screw up a card?

Im pretty sure the MSIs are guarenteed to have R360, but the only way you can be sure is to take off the HS.

Yea so what if it can be flashed to a 9800 XT? A highly overclocked 9700 Pro (with VGA Silincer) can outpreform a 9800 XT so why would you buy a 9800 pro agian just to get a R360 CORE?
