My AP is a D-Link Extreme G so I plan to get the matching DWL-G520 so I can take advantage of the 108mbps. Good idea? Does D-Link's Extreme standard work with any other manufacturer's?

Doesn't it even really matter which card to get these days with the standard having settled down?

To comment on cards. I recently bought an Xteresy 802.11b PCMCIA card, the cheapest thing available for my junk lappy, and i couldn't be happier. So in my experience the card hasn't mattered.

EDIT: I forgot, cards with add-in external attena's are definetly nicer and should recieve a better signal.

For the basic home user, I say stick with the matching homogenous product (Same brand router and card, etc..)

I have a Dell TrueMobile 1150 (A Rebadged Orinoco) and it has the MC Connector for an external antenna. Awesome card! If you want to get a really good card, an Orinoco Gold or Orinoco Classic has my vote.
