Which 750ti to get?

I can see a million different 750ti's out there now... and i only really know about AMD cards.

Do you still need to edit the bios on the Asus OC ones which have the 6-pin connector to raise the TDP like the EVGA SC ones?

Yes, in fact, it appears ALL brands are the same. They are limited to 38.5W (or whatever it is) and you have to flash them if you want to OC them beyond a certain point. I have noticed that even without flashing mine, they do just fine. I have the EVGA 750Ti SC ones. After all, with too much OC'ing there comes a point at which the benefits you gain by using lower power cards is nullified by pouring more power into them to not only OC them but to cool them.

For the record, the 6 pin connector is if you want to OC them out the wazoo and not actually required if you plan to run them stock. Even if you were to flash the BIOS, you would still have a good amount of headroom before you hit the limit to the power that the PCI-E slot can provide. However, the added 6 pin will let you go even higher than that and should help with stability. It will also help with powering the second fan.

I've never really been big on OC'ing cards much, so i think a couple of the EVGA SC ones will do me fine just to tinker with. Cheers :D
 
Whatever you can get the cheapest from a brand you trust.

Power draw is not significant enough to require any sort of exotic cooler or 6-pin connector. Hell, you can mod the BIOS to bring the power limit up significantly and still not exceed the 75W limit of the PCI-E connection.

That these companies are churning out cards with 6-pin connectors and still have a power limit of 38.5W in the BIOS is borderline criminal.
 
What program did you use to download the BIOS? Does it also flash the changes?
