Hey everyone. My first post, but I've been coming to HardOCP for a while for info and the like. I like the site.

Anyways, bacak to my question. It seems that there has been a sudden influx of 6800 GT's into the market. My question is this: which one should I get? Here's my choices:

XFX
BFG
Leadtek

Here's my dilemma. I like the XFX, specifically the color. However, I don't think that is that big of an issue, if the others can show to be better (My whole system will be silver/black/blue, so having a green card just sticks out). I don't care too much about the 20 MHz overclock on the BFG, since I'll be overclocking it anyways. However, the BFG comes with Far Cry for free. And I love the heatsink on the Leadtek. Will that big thing help my overclocking at all?

So what would you do? I'm not made of money, so I want the best quality I can get for my money. Thanks for your advice!

I guess I forgot to say that the card will be PCIe, which ASUS does not have. I assumed people would notice that from the links. My bad.

I would say Gainward Golden Sample but they don't have anything but 6600GT GS available for PCI-E right now :(

i got the AGP version of the bfg 6800 gt oc and i love it. blue pcb with dual blue led fans and its single slot with a heat pipe

Well, I just got the XFX because they had dual DVI. This is an awesome card no doubt! No problems with it at all.

I'd recommend the leadtek....I have the AGP version, and it OCs like a champ! It's a 2-slot solution, but the extra heatsink allows for serious OCing!

Leadtek. Huge copper heatsink and is silent. Overclocks nicely, and stays cool. Mine idles at 46C :)

Any other recommendations? You guys with the Leadtek's, what kind of overclocks are you getting?

PNY isn't bad. I've had a couple of those, Leadtek, BFG, eVGA. I've got a eVGA 6800GT PCI-E now and it's badass. OC's very well and I'm pleased with my purchase.

jus do us all a favor and save us the trouble of a future post about a messed up pny card, and get the bfg here http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-143-022&depa=0

BFG is the worst of the bunch because of its crappy cooler. Basically anything except for BFG would do you fine.

wtf are u talking about thats better then the reference cooler ignore this bitch-tit n00b

Actually, I'll just ignore both of you, because, if you'd noticed, I mentioned (and all the links point to) that I'm getting a PCI-E card, not AGP. So if you have comments on the PCI-E version, I would appriciate it.

Heya,

My OC is at 445/1160...I haven't tested it higher (yet) as I only recently got the card. At the moment it's completely stable in all programs, can run the Nvidia benches for over 24 hours, and is fully stable in D3, Farcry, HL2, and the other (less intensive) games. As I said, the leadtek rocks!

Regards,
Chris Parsons

BFG rocks, I have the custom cooler and it looks great and plays great. I got it at Best Buy for $399.00 didn't want any of the games already have them. But the BFG runs great. :)

I would not recommend the PCIe BFG card... at least with my experience. It's a fine card but it can't overclock for sh*t.

In PCI-E I'd recommend the eVGA 6800GT. Mine is great. Dual DVI and it overclocks well so far. Ran at Ultra speeds right out of the box and has never locked up or given me any issues.

I've been as high as 465 core 1.19mem... but I run it at stock because it's plenty powerful as it is. :)

sorry no i did not realise you wanted pci-e im sorry, but whatever floats your boat, personally bfg is pre oced and lifetime warranty go with them

Get the BFG with the style cooler seen minc3d but in PCI-E. I have that same cooler style on a Gainward 2100 GS (which is a NU single slot sweet fast as hell card) and it is truely great. I also like the Gainward 2400 GLH cooler but it is dual slot in the other comp and it a bit louder :D
