Getting ready to upgrade my monitors and vid card...going to pick up a couple of the Viewsonic vp 171-2 17 LCD's and I want a vid card that will do dual DVI was looking on newegg at the XFX cards...and with AGP interface there are several different versions...and it appears it comes down to different kinds and amounts of memory. which will give me the best performance???

I'll be the first. There are like 8 million threads on this subject. Next time do a search.

Anyway. Leadtek, MSI and BFG seem to be the most popular. I would go leadtek over the other ones personally. It's quiet and a good OC'er
 
not asking about brands...personally 6 of one half dozen of the other...more curious about 128 mb of mem or 256 mb of mem...256 is ddr and 128 is gddr3 as I recall what I was looking atand the 128 mb mem is clocked faster

128 of GDDR3.

The 256 is a gimmick and will yield lower performance in benchies and games.

If you really, really need 256 of texture memory, go for a 6800 series with 256MB.

The second one is a 6600 Vanilla. There performance is pretty bad.

a 6600GT will yield much better results.
 
hope that clears it up. You're looking at two totally different cards. the 6600gt is the better card. the only choice you have to make is which brand.

Leadtek seems to be the best.
 
wouldn't chose msi if you're planning on overclocking. As i understand it, MSI has no temp monitoring?

I believe the PNY's also lack temp monitoring.
