I was thinking between the WD 500AAKS or the Seagate ST3500630NS. Which one would you prefer to get?

It's a good deal and I picked one up, but there is an "issue" with the firmware for that model where peak bandwidth is somewhat restricted at the outter edges of the drive's platters compared to other .10 models. It typically shows about 10MB/s less in peak transfer rate for the first 40-50GB. The "model" number is also wrong on the outside of the box, it really is ST3500630AS. So I'd say because of this blunder, go with the WD.BestBuy is having a sale on a 500GB Seagate (ST3500641AS) for $99. I don't know what is different from the model number you listed though.
