Which 4870 card to get?

Hey all,

I'm looking to game on a Dell 2208WFP 22" monitor 1680 x 1050 res. Just wondering if there's any particular brand I should get? NOT looking to go SLI in the future either.

Looking on Newegg, I saw that Sapphire, Powercolor, and VisionTek seem to be the most popular ones.

Oh, any idea if ATI will release a 1GB 4870 video card soon?

unless youre planing to go crossfire in the future or really thinking about the 1Gb version you should really check out the GTX 260s now that they can be had for similar prices as the 4870s, otherwise yea visiontek all the way for an ati card

any particular reason? The general concensus that I've heard is that Sapphire has really bad customer support. Visiontek on the other hand has a lifetime warranty

I'll have to checkout some benchmark scores because I thought the 4870 cards were faster than GTX 260 cards?

The GTX 260s small performance gains weren't worth their price premium once the 4870 hit the shelves. But now that you can find GTX 260s for the same price ranges as the 4870s that performance gain is coming at no extra cost to you. The only reason you shouldn't get a GTX 260 is if you are seriously thinking about crossfire or wanting to wait on the 1 GB version to see how that compares

Visiontek for the lifetime warranty or HIS for the easy rebate.

Thanks for the link! Yeah the GTX 260 is a good card too, slightly faster than the 4870.
 
from past experience with both Sapphire & Visiontek... i'll choose Visiontek for their warranty...
