I'd like something with accurate (which is probably a given at this size and price, but you never know).
 
Probably the Dell 3007wfp-hc, at that price point.

EDIT: the HP3065 is also something to consider.
 
My 3007 WFP-HC cost $1,113.00 tax, shipped with 4 year warranty. Some have gotten it for less with a better deal. We in Florida pay taxes and other states ( Some ) do not which saves you a bit more.
 
I get a discount on Dell monitors, so I'm leaning towards something from them. I'm not sure if it applies to outlet purchases, though, so I may have to wait for a good deal on their site.

What are the main differences between the 3007WFP-HC and the 3008WFP?
 
Hi All

I just got my Dell 3007WFP-HC @ Dell outlet for $799.00. Let me start by saying going from 1920 x 1080 to 2560 x 1600 is shattering. There's absoloulely no comparison. End of story. Period.

As for the monitor, the backlight appears to be very even as I've noticed no bleeding around the corners. The colors are even if somewhat sharp. I will be calibrating it tomorrow with a X-rite Eye-one Display 2.

All said, I'm very happy with my purchase.

Can you explain the input lag. I keep on seeing posts in this forum about this and not fully understanding.

I am in the market for a new flat screen and I was looking at both the 3007WFP-HC and the 3008WFP. I will use this from watching BluRay movies, to playing the latest games like Crysis, programing, Virtualization... and general use... Thought a 30" would be awesome to work on.

The 3307 does not have a built in scalar. The 3008 does. The processing done in the scalar causes the increase in lag between the screens.

An important point on input lag: You may or may not notice it. I game on my 3008 (including FPS games like Crysis) and never have seen the slightest hint of lag while others find the lag to be excruciating. I never noticed lag on my previous LCDs, either.
 
I have the HP and if you plan on hooking more than 1 computer to your 30" it is a much better choice as it has a built in DL DVI switch.
 
I've got the 30" samsung. I'm pretty pleased with it, but the RMA service is lousy. Other than that the monitor absolutely rocks.
 
Thank you all for the feedback. I have a Samsung TV and when I forget to turn on Game Mode while playing XBox360 games I can sometimes notice the ever-so-slight lag (usually in massive battles). I just thought that the input lag that users were talking about; especially the 3008 owners was due to having the additional inputs used (HDMI, USB, DVI...), would cause additional lag above the known LCD panel lag.. Thank you for clarification.

I am leaning towards a 3008 but I really like the Samsung technology... I have a poll up to have further exploration into this question
 
I just got my 3007WFP-HC in today at lunch and I took off a couple hours of work to play with it. I could not be happier, after some calibration is blows away my 2405wfp and both of my 2007wfps. The backlight is uniform and super bright, the contrast is excellent and I cannot personally tell any input lag whatsoever between UT3 and Crysis @ 2560x1600.

I don't have experience with any other 30" monitors other than the Apple Cinema Display but this beats it easy in my eyes and you'd be insane not to be happy with one of them.
 
You can snag one from the Dell Outlet for $799 and snag a ~15% off coupon off ebay for ~$6. I snagged one when they were still $750 and couldn't be happier with it, got a free three year warranty with it too. Dell also has a zero dead pixel policy, so you won't have to worry about being able to return one or not.
 
I'd really like to know what's going on with Dell's pricing. The 3008WFP has been all over the place, swinging over ~$500.

Still looking at possibilities. At these prices, you might as well not compromise if you can avoid it.

Still taking suggestions.

Totally happy with all our Dell 3007s.
 
I got the 3007WFP-HC yesterday. Hard to call anything that costs that much a bargain, but somehow, it feels like one. Put simply, there is really no "choice" when it comes to 30" LCDs.
All the information is out there. We all have different needs. Get what you need -- This is a monitor strictly speaking - it does what it was designed to do. It's not a Kuro Elite.
 
I built my system around a 3007wfp-hc 2 years ago... could not be happier... needed it for remote access, programming, and of course gaming.

I could only afford a 7600GT when I 1st got it, so games were slow.

Then 7600GT SLI, actually was ok.

Then 8800GTX which was awsome.

Now GTX280 and thinking GTX 280 SLI.

The point is the monitor is still awsome and worth every penny of the $1500 I paid for it.

For around a $1K? It is a steal.

EDIT: Colour accuracy is not great from the factory, so you'll have to "play" with the settings.
 
I'm in this same boat. I can't decide between the Refurbed 3008 or the brand new 3007. With tax and shipping the 3007 comes to just about the cost of the refurbed 08. Which would be the better choice?
 
I tried 2 3008wfp and uniformity was terrible. Also one had bad backlight bleed at the top.
 
I still check dell outlet every day for a 3007. There hasn't been any for a long while. I was super retarded for passing up the deal so many times. Kept prioritizing it lower than something else when I had the cash... now that I really want it the deals are gone :(. Probably just going to buy one off Costco in a month or so.
 
Well Im trying to sell my 3007 on CraigsList right now in So California only because I hate the idea of shipping it.
 
Owning both the xhd and wfp-hc, it really depends on if you need the other connections.

Honestly I <3ed my xhd as well, nice added speaker, plus a remote, plus pip and numerous connections.

Personally I had a great experience w/ gateway CS and If I didn't have to sell it @ the time, I would have kept the xhd....but since the wfp-hc also aligns and fits my 2001 fp's perfectly, I'll stick w/ the Dell =D
 
I love my 3008. It's got great picture quality and color, no backlighting bleed. I know others here on [H] have had problems with their 3008s, but mine is fantastic. Best monitor I've ever owned. :D
