Which 24" Display ?

i used the gateway for about 2 weeks before returning it back in november. i bought the lg a few days ago and can tell you that i have not had a single issue with it thus far. i don't know why but when using the gateway, i experienced severe headaches but do not with the lg. also, the gateway buzzed a bit, the lg does not. the gateway does have better on-screen controls, in my opinion. also, the pivot feature on the gateway is superior to the one used by lg. i do not game at all so i can not give any experiences related to that. i'm sure others can and will, tho. all in all, i'm very happy with the lg. i almost forgot....the lg has a 3 year warranty versus the 1 year warranty offered by gateway.
 
I'm leaning towards the LG as well mainly because of the HDMI and DVI inputs, that way I could hook up a PS3 and use it as a Blu-ray player while still having my PC hooked up, no need for plugging and replugging.

It also appears to be brighter.

There is no DVI input on the LG panel you have listed. The HDMI input takes it's place.

The BestBuy site says it does, are you positive? I wouldn't but it if it doesn't have both.
 
that is true. there is no dvi input. the monitor uses a dvi to hdmi cable. there is an dsub connection in addition to the hdmi, tho.
 
it doesnt say anything about the LG being HDCP compliant, so i'd say the gateway would be your best move
 
yea HDMI = DVI + HDCP

Unless you go from DVI to HDMI through an adapter, then HDCP isn't always there.
 
How are you getting them under $600? The links you provided list them as $679(Gateway) and $699 (LG).

That's cool. I was thinking if I could buy one locally for the same or less as the Dell 24" I would do that. I might still go take a look at that LG to see how it looks in person.

Yes, it would have been nice had LG and others decided to include multiple digital inputs. To be honest, though, given that there are so many issues and quirks with all of these 24 inch monitors, I would pick the one that you consider to have the highest quality and worry about the number of inputs afterward -- much more important that it has at least a single input of each type you need (in LG's case, it has HDMI, VGA, and component video). Multiple HDMI ports would be a convenience, but it's not something you can't work around (the Gateway only has one DVI port anyway, so you'd still have this issue).

You can always get an HDMI switch-box if you want to leave multiple devices plugged in -- if you only need two inputs monoprice carries them for under $30 (e.g. here). You can get others with more inputs and a remote control, but they get pretty pricey.
