Hello,
which 2,5" HDD to choose to store the virtual-machine images for ESXi?
I want 7200rpm and >=250GB, so I am looking at the Western Digital Scorpio Black 320GB.
Its price/GB is not that good but its a single platter and it's said to have nice random-access performance. The 500GB version would be only 5-10 EUR more, so does platter-count matter?
What about the Samsung MP4 or the Hitachi (E)7K500?
Seagate is off due to their 1 year warranty nightmare...
Side question: If 250GB are required and a disk had 320GB platters but provides only 250GB capacity, is that even better than the 320GB-version since the "lost" 70GB would be on the disk's slowest platter-areas anyway?
Any advice appreciated
