Hey Guys,

Im in the market for a 13" laptop. I came across a few options that im interested in are the 13"macbook pro, asus zenbook 3 and thats pretty much it. Im basically looking for 13" laptop with Hi res displays. Are there any other options out there? ive been out of the tech world for a while so im wondering if you guys can help.

Thanks!

My go-to would be the 13-inch MacBook Pro, if just because it's arguably the best-balanced of the bunch.

It has a fast processor, not a low-voltage chip like the Zenbook, but still lasts for 10 hours (and that's realistic with a light-to-moderate load, not idling). It has the best keyboard and trackpad in the business; it's not as light as the Zenbook, but it's far from back-breaking. The only real questions are storage and price: how much storage do you need, and how much are you willing to pay? I'd go with at least the 256GB model unless you know your storage needs are pretty modest, and that's $1,499 (not including any educational/business discounts you might get).

If you really want to go Windows: I know at least some people would point to the Dell XPS 13, though the battery life isn't as good as Apple's if you get the high-res screen. And if performance is everything, there's the 14-inch Razer Blade at $1,999.

Not sure if HP has a 13" Elitebook right now, but if they do I'd recommend picking up one off corporate lease with warranty remaining. They're usually all over eBay. You'll never find a better built machine, and once you've dealt with HP business support you'll never want to talk to Apple or Dell again.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the input. Im torn between the xps and mac now. I still have to look at that HP though.

What's your budget? How soon do you need it? Might want to wait for the Apple refresh. See what the new MBP has to offer.

If you gotta buy now, the 13" retina MBP probably is your best choice.

I really believe that the XPS13 is one of the best laptops on the market today.
