Pardon the newb question but, I'm assembling a rig and on my 520 corsair psu theres 3 cables.. a huge one, a medium rectangle 8 pin, and a small square 4 pin...what does the small 4 pin square shaped one plug belong to?
 
does it plug into a 3 prong thing? I have a IPE-35 there is a 3 prong thing right next to where the fan for the psu plugs into.

I dont see any 4 pin sqaure plugs that match this, how many pins does it have?
 
yeah, the square 4 pin connector aint used sense you have the 8 pin. Its unusual because all PSUs I have seen use a 4+4 connector. In your case you use one or the other.
