I always enjoyed turn based RPG's and I wish I knew why there's borderline none on PC. The best thing we have is Last Remnant and that is a moderately bad Xbox 360 port which isn't even a great game in itself. Next up would be....Atlantica Online, a dated turnbased MMO which I personally have no interest in.
Other than that there's a few oldies like FF7 which unfortunately is not unique to the PC, but what the hell? Where are they all!? Am I the only one interested in this type of game? I think turn based RPG's would have solid following on PC.
What makes a turn based RPG good in my book? Excellent graphics for one. When you are in combat, all you have is time. Time to look around, time to see what attacks you want to do, time to admire the battlefield. What does that best? PC! I was always amazed at Disciples 2 because the combat graphics were outstanding for it's time. The world map used sprite based drawings so it was very realistic, then the combat had heavily detailed units with fantastic looking spells.
Second, the PC has whatever controller support you want. Prefer a 360 controller? Use that. Prefer PS3? Go install MotionJoy. The limits are only created by the developers themselves.
If anyone knows of any gems hidden amongst all these western RPG's let me know.
