Where's the A64 3000+ O/C guide?

I remember something mentioned about an easy foolproof guide to overclocking the 3000+. I remember somebody mentioning a writeup on how to take it to 2.4ghz + pretty much guaranteed. Any links to that doc?

Hey!!! That's the guide I've been looking for I have an A64 and I was using it, but I had to stop OCing after 100MHz b/c I was also OCing my SATA connector (damn the lack of AGP/PCI lock, damn it!)

Now if only I could figure out why my corsair won't go about 212 fsb without setting 2t command rate, I'd be straight!

I have done so much reading on this but still have some questions. I'm stretching the legs of my K8N and so far think I have figured out where my limitations are. Want some clarification though. FYI, right now I'm running:

A64 3000+ CG
K8N Neo Platinum with 1.2 BIOS
OCZ PC3200 512MB Premier
10x cpu multiplier
3x HTT multiplier
230 FSB
166 RAM divider
stock voltage and cooling

Right now I''m running at a "safe" overclock till I nail down where I'm hitting the issues. Here are the questions:

1. Can you overclock your HTT faster then its stock level (In the case of the K8N, past 800)? I don't need to know how, I'm curious if its possible without some kind of safety measure kicking in. I think I'd prefer to have it as close to stock as I can get instead of castrating it to get a higher Ghz rating (as in I dont want to drop it below 3x or something).

2. What issues are introduced when you lock your RAM at a lower speed and are no longer running 1:1. I know it sounds weird and I haven't fully evaluated it yet, but it seems like my RAM isn't as reliable when its clocked lower then its supposed to be. I've left it at its default relaxed timings till I see how far I can push the mobo. I can always get high quality RAM later.

3. How reliable is Prime95 because it errors out pretty quickly if I go above 230 (have made it to 250 with RAM at 133), even if I push the voltage on the RAM and CPU much higher then I know I need to. I've ran 3DMark, FarCry etc without any issues, but Prime95 errors out fast.

4. Why would I not want to utilize Cool 'N Quiet if I'm overclocking? Does it get in the way somehow or is it just because it switches back and forth? I've read places where it doesn't seem to affect performance at all really, and I'd rather take advantage of my system not running full bore all the time if its not necessary.

5. My cpu temp isn't being reported accurately as I'm sure many of you have seen others post. Does anyone know which utility accurately reports the K8N Neo Platinum? Motherboard monitor seems to be the most accurate I have found so far...

if you run 800 it is esentaly 4x the htt, or terditional fsb. so while it sais 800, if your running 220, its 880.

same thing w/ the ram


btw, i got my a64 3000+ in the mail from newegg today, it says:

Try SpeedFan. Since MBM5 is no longer being developed SpeedFan seems to get the job done with less system processes. It even reports hardrive temps.

Without making any other changes, I upped my "FSB" to 220 on my A64 3000. It I understand it right, that means my HTT was at 880, which would be past the 800 you mention. I'm also running a MSI K8N Neo Platinum.
