Where'd this come from?

What tha!?!?

Any one got benches on that thing? It's cheap too!

I'd like to see benchmarks!!! Although, at 1680x1050 resolution, 256mb is really slacking.

I wonder if you can use a 6pin connector...

"Connection to 450 Watt (550 for CrossFire) or greater power supply with 30A available on 12V line with 2x4-pin PCIe power connectors is required. (2x3 power cable connection disable Overdrive feature)"

It looks like it should work with just a 2x3, you just wont get overdrive:)

Wow, 8 pin... this thing looks like a power hog. Btw i thought it was kinda funny that some pictures said ATI and some said Sapphire on the fan.:D

Blow out pricing before the 3850 256mb comes along at a lower price point, less heat and more performance.

That 256mb 8800gt better get here fast, or else the money in my pocket might get skewed towards this.

Lawl. That would be a poor buy. Some people sound like they have more money than they know what to do with. Why not get the most for it?

I suggest you do not do that. This HD 2900 GT is comparable to a 8600 GTS or a X1950 Pro, in terms of performance. Getting it instead of a 8800 GT, is a very poor buying decision.

Is the 2900 GT really comparable to an 8600 GTS, or is this just a case of Nvidia zealots watching the ATI forum for a chance to drop in and post?

i think callig anything in the 2900 line the saem as a 8600 is abit of a stretch if not flat BS.

8600cards are laughably next generation while i think the 8800 series is a better choice over current 2900 offerings lets not stretch :D

Read above for one example.

Ok. Ok. It was an impulse comment. My money is still in my pocket.

Still though, for $169 compared to 8600gts's priced at or above, I think this wouldn't be a bad buy.

Do people seriously care about F.E.A.R? That game still feels like now't but a benchmark engine to me that has no connection to other games performance.

(and the 2900GT is really too little and too late, with the 3800s coming)

Did you bother to read the following pages ?!? It's a whole review, with many games, other than FEAR...

Read above for one example.

you linked to the one game where performance was even the rest show the 2900gt pretty much beating the 8600gts pretty well while not great and obviously not a wonderful card the 2900gt appeasr to be a much better overall choice then a 8600gts in some games the difference was over 20 frames per second on the 2900gt.

2900gt isnt a beast but its not a 8600gts either

course at the price point this card is at its stupid to not spend another 30 bucks and grab a 8800gt

First of all, I linked to a whole preview, that starts with FEAR. You should've bothered to read the rest.

Second, it's even with the 8600 GTS in more than just FEAR. It's also almost even in Oblivion (2 fps difference) and in HL2 Episode 2.

And third, I said the HD 2900 GT was similar in performance to the 8600 GTS OR the X1950 Pro, which is exactly where this card stands.

So yes, the HD 2900 GT is similar in performance to both 8600 GTS and X1950 Pro. Actually it sits right between both of them.
