Where would my bottleneck be?

Athlon 3200+ coz you can better performance w/ an A64 setup using the same video card..

So you're saying that if he put an R420 in that same setup it wouldnt get any faster?

Neither are bottlenecking eachother

Ha, none of these posts help.

There will always be a bottleneck. Let me rephrase the question...upgrading which peice of hardware would give me higher FPS in a 3d environment?

Duh, there si no better gfx card out on the market. Thus you are left with upgrading your cpu. And even then the only good 64 bit solution out now is the FX-51, which then you'd need to upgrade your motherboard, too. Then you'd be owning sick, very highest top of the line, right now.

But there is no real bottle neck.

aha! But then again it would be the Athlon 3200+ bottlenecking the new video card.. kill athlon 3200+

*p.s. I sure hope you realize that the question was stupid and the responses would be worse*

Yes the 9800XT is the fastest thing so you can't upgrade in that department till later this spring/early summer. So to improve your minimum FPS (in games like UT2004, SoF2) today you would upgrade your CPU/memory. Getting an r420 or whatever 'later' would improve your ability to run higher textures and get better FPS on GPU intensive games like Halo. To get better minimum fps #'s, your best bet is more power to chew through your games faster.

Let me explain something to you all...

A faster chip than the 3200+ would be any P4 from an overclocked 2.4 C all the way to a 3.2 GHZ P4EE.

I am completely aware that there is no card faster than a 9800 XT or GFX...That doesn't mean these video cards can't be bottlenecks.

In other words "There is no way to have each component running 100 percent all the time".

There will always be a bottleneck, no matter how modern your system is.

It would depend on the game and in what res you are playing at.

i love this guy :)

The FX-51 would own the 3200+ as well, but overall the 3200+ is a very solid cpu, and I doubt the 2.4c unless clocked at ~3.2 ghz could compare to it... considering it is a 3200+... odd huh :p

And yes the P4EE is a good cpu as well, but the fx-51 was benched to be better by [H].
