where to selectively kill 3rd party extensions in IE?

It seems I picked up one of those extensions that magically installs itself to IE last night. Where are those installations located? Only way to prevent it from resetting my home page (and whatever else it does) is to disable 3rd party extensions alltogether, which kills my google popup blocker. Wish I had broadband so windows update wasn't such a pain.

Would it help at all if I made a user account with minimal access that I used for web browsing?
 
ok, so firefox is like a beta of the successor to Mozilla 1.7? and its only 4.7MB...sounds like its worth a shot.

btw, the problem seems to be gone after running windows update.
