I have an enermax whisper that was causing a computer to randomly turn off (problem identified by changing out the PS) is there a way I can get this unit refurbished? This was a great PS at one time!

thanks,
Mike

It would probably cost as much as a new Enermax because of the labor.

I think that the refurbishment would consist of making any repairs and replacing the low voltage electrolytic capacitors. The high voltage capacitors don't seem to fail nearly as often.

If you're looking to repair it, it's probably not worth it. Just go buy a new one. If it's still under warranty, then contact Enermax for an RMA.

3 years. If it's older than that, you shouldn't bother anyway since other parts are bound to fail even after you replace those that are currently failed......

In fact, replacement of failed components inside the power supply will likely CAUSE failure of other, older components.

Just like when you introduce a new, high power power supply into an old system and POP! The board fried because it's components are weak from age.

Just buy another if they won't replace the whole thing.

The transistors too.

They may not blow up or anything like a cap, but they certainly aren't going to be as accurate as they were when they were new.

It's just not worth it. A failed power supply is a disposable power supply. That's why they're only $100.
