Where to put Vandal Switch?

I have a p190 case, which has a closed door design. The downside is that the power button is half way down the case, and inside the door.

So, I bought a vandal switch.

It's just that now, I have no clue where to put it. The best I can think of is either in the first drive bay (which isn't outside, like I want), or this:

I don't know.. doesn't that look silly just sticking out of the top like that?

Top drive bay i your best bet if you don't want it on the outside. Maybe get a card reader with blank space enough to accomodate it and install it in the card reader?

Would it possible with your desk setup to put it on the back panel. Then its out of the way, and doesn't stick out like a sore thumb, kinda like door poppers on the bottom of shaved door handle cars.

You mean near the I/O Shield Plate?

I'm not really sure what Door Poppers are, but no, the case is facing me.

I don't mind the switch on the top. I'd much rather have it be someplace easily reachable, than have to open a door every time I want to turn on my machine.

Yeah, but isn't it going to be on 24/7 anyway?

I just wonder if it will look really unsightly. And it's not reverse-able.

On cars when you shave the door handles (remove them and smooth out the body so it looks liek they were never there), you usually put an electronic popper (opener) in its place. If your battery dies, you're SOL and locked out. They usually put a manual button on the floorpan of the car so you can open the door if your battery is dead. Its usually hidden under the car. Out of sight out of mind.

I was thinking more in the upper right hand corner on the back, but if thats not reachable, I'd put it on the top where you have it in that picture and hope it looks alright.

It is your machine, will it be on 24/7?? :)

My taste is top. OTOH I've never bought a case with a door on it. 'Sides it isn't like this is an art piece VooDoo Omen PC case, it is an Antec P190.

Just do this.

Mount the button on your desk somewhere and have a REALLY long set of wires running into the back of the case. Hell, I'd even get one of the slot expanders that allows you to put power plugs in one of the expansion slots in the back of the case so that you can disconnect it easily. I think that would pretty neat!

Also, you could see if your mobo supports pwr on by keyboard or mouse. Then you could just click the mouse or hit a key on the keyboard and your system will power on.

I forgot about this. Almost every motherboard supports this, should be in the power options of the bios.

I do this. Works for me.
