I recently purchased (but have yet to install) two 36 GB Raptors. I also have a 160 GB hard drive I keep for every thing else. I know that keeping the swap file off of the OS's hard drive is usually better for performance, but in this case, would keeping the swap file on the Raptor array be more beneficial? I'm assuming it would be, but I just wanted some feedback. Thanks.

Yes.

The access times on that Raptor make it the best place to keep your swap file.

I'm curious,

How do you specify where the swap file is on the drive? Third party Defrag?

In linux you can make the swapfile at the beginning of the partition (hard drive) then create your firesystem for the OS.

in this order

MBR
Swapfile
OS filesystem

that's in linux. you might beable to do it in windows with Partition magic.
