I posted a thread on Anandtech asking about surge protectors. In the end, I decided to get a UPS instead. There was some negative comments about Belkin products, so I was wondering what a good company was. I was looking into APC, but their products are really expensive. Their prices tend to be double that of equivalent spec UPSes from Belkin.

Sam's Club has new, but discontinued, APC Back Up Pro 1100's for $125,
these use RS232 instead of USB & were $454 just 2yrs ago.

Sam's also has APC Back Up 500's for about $48.

Full data here: http://apc.com

Good Luck,
Dave ;)

If I have a 250W computer, 75W monitor, 30W speakers, and a 17W scanner, will a APC Back Up 500 be able to support my system comfortably?

EDIT: I ask this because the 500VA says it outputs 200W, and yet, people have reported running 400W computer PSUs on them.
